Senior Web Applications Developer

The Opportunity

Utilizing a working knowledge in HTML design, ASP development and SQL database programming, manage and enhance the public web presence for NetMotion Wireless, the software company enabling businesses and government agencies to maximize productivity of their mobile workforces.
 
This position is a temporary-to-hire position (3 month contract with option to convert).  This position reports to the Director, Technical Operations and will be based out of the company's headquarters in Seattle, Washington.

Your Role as a Key Contributor

In this role you will be a member of the team that is primarily responsible for maintaining and developing improvements to our public web presence and associated internal systems.  You will work with many other NetMotion Wireless teams, including but not limited to Sales, Accounting, Marketing, Product Management and Technical Support, to continuously increase the impact and reach of this web presence.  You will also help design and develop improvements to the systems used by both our customers and our internal teams to achieve even greater levels of customer satisfaction and product acceptance.  You will approach design and development with an engineering rigor that produces solutions that meet agreed upon functional specifications with high-quality.

Types of Ongoing Projects and Responsibilities


  • Consult with internal stakeholders and prepare functional specification for new development and changes
  • Design and develop ASP and ASP.NET that meet agreed upon functional specifications
  • Proactively identify and recommend process and system improvements
  • Prepare HTML layout and CSS designs
  • Diligently respond to the Web Development service requests
  • Ensure proper operation of the computer systems (Web and SQL)
  • Manage our Ektron CMS400 Content Management System (CMS)
  • Manage the internal development / test system
  • Manage the WebTrends analytics system and help Marketing analyze web traffic statistics.

Qualifications

To do well in this position it is important that in addition to having the required technical skills below, you also be self-starter, work well on a team, prepare accurate time estimates, troubleshoot complex systems, and have a strong customer-orientation.

You must have 7-8 years experience developing dynamic and data-driven web sites and systems.

 

You must have a thorough understanding of and experience with:

  • Functional specification and test case development
  • ASP programming
  • Database (T-SQL) programming
  • HTML & CSS design
  • Windows systems administration
  • A modern Content Management System (CMS)
  • A version control system
  • Technical writing and documentation


You may have experience with: 

  • ASP.NET programming
  • Javascript programming
  • Graphics design and editing
  • WebTrends
  • Flash
  • XML & XSLT

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, operate a personal computer, visually inspect forms, conduct oral communication via telephone and in person, retrieve and return files in storage cabinets, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
The person in the role must communicate clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone. Vision correctable to 20/40 is required to review written materials.
