Technical Account Manager
The Opportunity
The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is an integral member of the NetMotion Wireless™ sales organization working with key clients as a technical account manager. Our company is known for developing quality software and providing a high level of customer service. The TAM is responsible for managing relationships with key accounts, monitoring on-going issues impacting customer relationships and satisfaction. You will help us to develop the best ways to keep our large accounts happy while evangelizing our product and its expanded use. You will ensure our clients are appropriately deploying our solution, handle escalated issues and build long-lasting customer relationships.
Your success in this role will immediately and positively impact our customers who provide everything from life saving health care to public safety to powering our homes. Your strategic relationships with customers will impact NetMotion’s continued sales growth and success. You must enjoy the challenge and excitement of selling, technically supporting and explaining a complex product.
This is a remote position that can be based in a major metropolitan area that is accessible to East Coast travel, preferably in New York, Chicago, or Boston areas. Due to the nature of the role, 50%+ travel is expected. You will report directly to the SVP of Sales and Business Development. This position pays a base salary plus incentive compensation, stock options as well as full benefits.

Your Role as a Key Contributor
As a TAM you will identify client needs and resolve issues, build effective relationships and partnerships with our clients and assist in the continued growth of sales opportunities. You will work closely with the other Sales teams, technical support and engineering organizations to understand the ins and outs of particular clients and the nuances of their situation from a sales, technical and relationship standpoint. When called in to work on technical issues, you will work closely with technical support, product management and development team members to resolve problems.

Types of Ongoing Projects and Responsibilities
- Meet once a quarter or more with our key accounts as well as set up periodic meetings and check-ins.
- Act as an on-site liaison for technical support with a customer when and if required.
- Stay up to date on the latest technologies and how they are used or may be used by our key customers.
- Work with product development on any product modifications if required to solve ongoing problems.
- Work with marketing to identify and develop case study and other referral or selling tools.
- Identify and recruit clients for our Customer Advisory Board.
- Research best practices and gather competitive intelligence.
- Provide additional training to customers and channel partners as needed.
Your Qualifications
You’ll be well equipped for this position in skills and abilities if you have 5+ years of software sales engineering experience working with large enterprise accounts in the software industry. You will have a track record of success in generating revenue, developing technical network solutions and a foundation in network design. You will be known by your peers as someone who has an extensive customer network because you enjoy building business and technical relationships. You live for the thrill of working within a fast-paced, rapidly evolving start-up environment.
To hit the ground running you will preferably have experience in a sales environment as a sales or systems engineer installing, configuring and trouble-shooting complex networks. Your understanding of TCP/IP, routers and firewalls, as well as a familiarity with security and VPN products will give you the credibility you need to speak with IT managers. More than likely you have some type of networking certification attesting to your abilities. Your strong communication skills will allow you to build relationships and translate technical topics for any audience – from a purchasing manager to a CEO.
Experience working in verticals such as insurance, utilities, healthcare, public safety, telecommunications or other vertical with a large number of mobile field workers is desirable. Due to the nature of the position, you will need to have a home office and a willingness to travel 50% or more to meet your goals.
From a skills perspective, you’ll need to really be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, or other related software programs. You will also need to have some experience working with a CRM and tracking key information on customers and potential customers.
From an availability perspective you will be willing and able to do limited travel to occasionally help to present to a customer/partner or meet with them or attend sales meetings
Physical Requirements
This position requires the manual dexterity sufficient to operate phones, computers, and other office equipment. The person in the role must communicate clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the telephone. Vision correctable to 20/40 is required to review written materials. Virtual office is set up by employee. 50+% travel utilizing air flights and trains, as well as the ability to operate a vehicle. Visits to customer locations generally situated in offices and providing good working conditions with little or no exposure to extremes in noises or temperatures. There are little or no safety or health hazards. Minimal lifting or climbing. Work is performed in an office setting.
