Mobility XE Authentication and International Character Support

Technical Note 2245

Last Reviewed 15-Jun-2009
Applies to:
Mobility XE version 8.51 and higher

 Printer-friendly version

Summary

Mobility XE version 8.51 includes support for Latin-1 characters commonly used in French, German, Italian, Spanish, and most other Western European languages. Specifically, it supports Unicode Latin-1 characters up to U+00FF. The tables below provide a matrix of authentication methods and authentication servers that support this extended range of characters as inputs for user names and passwords.

It is important to be aware that the limitations listed in the matrix are those of the authentication servers. The Mobility server does not limit extended character support (when characters are within the range described above).

Additional details are in the Notes section below.

Notes

  • Note 1: In order to ensure full compatibility between Microsoft IAS and Latin-1 characters, you will need to modify a Mobility setting. Contact NetMotion Technical Support (support@nmwco.com) for more information. The only time it is necessary to modify this setting is if your authentication infrastructure includes user names and/or passwords that contain extended characters.
  • Note 2: User names must be entered as username@domain.com.
  • Note 3: Only user names that contain solely ASCII characters can successfully change passwords.
