Getting the Sony GC82 Cingular modem to work with TotalRoam

Summary:
The Sony GC82 cards do not initialize until the connection manager utility is launched which will interfere with the TotalRoam network adapter.

Details:
The Cingular Sony GC82 cards do not initialize until the watcher utility is launched.  This prevents TotalRoam from automatically launching the connection. The workaround to enable the cards to power on without the launch utility is to change the following:

In the dial-up connection properties:

User Name: ispda@cingulargprs.com

Password: CINGULAR1

Phone Number: *99***1#

In the registry:

XFuncMode: 01 (change all occurrences)

In the device manager settings for the modem (Advanced Tab)

AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","isp.cingular"

Applies To:
Customers using the Sony GC82 card.
