Title: A TotalRoam Client stops communicating through the VPN even though there is a green sentinel |
Summary:
When configuring TotalRoam, each network adapter must be given a name. The name given to a network adapter should be one that is descriptive of the network communications the adapter handles. If the same name is used for multiple network adapters, issues will be encountered when upgrading to a new version of TotalRoam.
Symptoms:
If an upgrade is performed on a system which has multiple network adapters using the same name, a variety of configuration settings for the network adapters will be changed incorrectly. As a result, TotalRoam will not function correctly or at all. Some of the possible resulting problems include:
- Some network adapters no longer appear in the network status pane
- MTU value is changed
- Local port value is changed
- Associated IP address is missing
Workaround:
To avoid problems during a TotalRoam upgrade, ensure that all of the network adapters have unique names prior to the upgrade.
If an upgrade is performed when two network adapters are configured with the same name, the upgrade can be fixed by deleting the network adapters and recreating them to match their original configuration. If an upgrade is performed when more than two network adapters share the same name, please call TotalRoam technical support for assistance resolving correcting the upgrade.
