Mobility XE Product Lifecycle

This table shows the status and support status for different versions in the NetMotion Mobility XE product line.

Customers with a current maintenance contract are encouraged to update their Mobility XE software to the most recent product revision (with a status of "Active").
Defects and compatibility issues are only resolved in the most current version.
NetMotion Wireless provides its customers 12 months advance notification of a product's end-of-life (EOL).

Note: in some cases more recent versions of the Mobility XE server may run on older versions of Windows. However, they have not been explicitly tested and compatibility and performance are not guaranteed.

Note: Windows Small Business Server (any version) is not supported in any version of Mobility XE.

Advisory for Customers Using Windows Server 2003: We will be discontinuing development of Mobility XE for Microsoft Windows Server 2003. After March 2012, resolution of the most severe product issues in versions of Mobility XE running on Microsoft Server 2003 may be available on an "as-needed" basis and at the sole discretion of NetMotion Wireless. Provisional Support for Windows XP Embedded 32-bit Service Pack 2

NetMotion Wireless cannot guarantee that Mobility XE is compatible with each device running Windows XP Embedded. Device manufacturers can exclude operating system modules and modify the operating system image and configuration in ways that may be incompatible with Mobility XE. NetMotion Wireless will only support deployments where the Mobility XE client is installed on a device running the Windows XP Embedded operating system under the following conditions:

Mobility XE must be able to be installed on the device and run successfully.
The customer must send in a device to NetMotion Wireless for certification testing.
If your device is successfully certified, NetMotion Wireless will fully support your Mobility XE deployment. We will attempt to diagnose and resolve compatibility problems, but we cannot guarantee resolution. If we are unable to fully certify the device, NetMotion Wireless will not support your deployment with that device.

For devices that are not running the Windows Mobile operating system, a special version may be available by request, depending on processor type, x86 and ARM processors are supported. You do not need this version if "Microsoft Windows Mobile" is displayed in the About box on your mobile device.
