Mobility XE System Requirements

Mobility XE System Requirements

Below is an overview of hardware and software requirements for Mobility XE Mobile VPN client and server software.

Mobility XE Server Components:

Organizations that wish to evaluate Mobility XE or customers with deployments of less than 100 clients can deploy all of the server software components on a single server platform. In larger deployments, the components should be installed on separate server platforms.

  • Mobility server: The termination point for client VPN connections.
  • Mobility warehouse: A directory that serves as the settings and management backbone for a Mobility server or pool of servers.
  • Mobility Analytics Module: An optional server that collects logs and performance data from the other Mobility servers and stores the information for reporting purposes. For more information on the Analytics Module, see this link: Analytics Module

Operating System Support:

Server Operating Systems

  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows Server 2008 R2

Client Operating Systems

  • Windows 7
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows XP
  • Windows Mobile
  • Windows CE

Minimum Server Hardware Requirements:

Windows Server 2003 (32-bit)

  • CPU: x86-compatible Pentium® 4 dual-core processor, 2.0 GHz or better
  • RAM: 3 GB
  • Free disk space: 10 GB

Windows Server 2008 R2

  • CPU: Dual-core x64 processor (Xeon, Opteron, or similar), 2.0 GHz or faster
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • Free disk space: 20 GB

Dual or quad processor systems should be used so that the Mobility servers can provide optimal performance. Beyond four processors you will not see better performance by adding CPUs/cores; choose faster processor speeds instead. Intel’s Itanium processors are not supported.

What Customers are Saying

"For Advocate Health, Mobility XE met our two key criteria.  First, it worked exactly as promised, and secondly, it was easy to support.  We have about 1,600 mobile devices and we needed a way to manage those devices.  We found that this was much easier using Mobility XE."
